Description
Inspired by the artist's fond childhood memories of swimming at Manly, the sculpture celebrates the 'Australian Crawl', contemporary surf club culture and the vital role of life saving in Australia.

The original steel and concrete version of the artwork was placed on the exterior wall of the Manly SLSC in 2000. The artwork was slowly deteriorating due to its exposed location, and in 2023, it was removed from the building and re-cast in bronze using the lost-wax casting process. The artist travelled from her home in Byron Bay to oversee this process, including the creation of the mold and application of bronze patina.
